When Brian and I first got married, we lived in the smallest one bedroom, one bath apartment ever. There wasn't any storage space. Our closet was about as big as our refrigerator. But it was cozy and extremely fun.
We moved a few months ago into a more spacious two bedroom, two bath place in the same complex. The extra space has been w o n d e r f u l. We now have two closets that are each bigger than our old kitchen was. I am so thankful for the extra space. It allows us to actually keep the clutter at bay.
Our second room was supposed to be our office. I am in a strenuous nursing program and have never studied more in my life. Brian went back to school also. We needed a place we could get away and focus.
Until this week, our "office" has been extra storage. Rex stays in there in his kennel during the day. Boxes from our move also reside in the "office". We finally said enough is enough and started working on the office. I can tell you it is already turing into my favorite room in the house.
For the first year and a half of our marriage, I had no idea what I wanted our home to look like. We have a mix of vintage items and modern items. The color scheme changes with the seasons. I finally have a small idea of what style I love. And I get to put it to good use with the office.
Pinterest and other blogs have been of great inspiration for the style of our home. Above are some offices that I love!
Picture 1: I love the use of the Ikea Expedit shelving in the back. We have a smaller version of the Expedit in the dark color. I would not mind having this big guy someday!

ikea dreamin'

Gotta be honest. I do love Ikea. I love the modern look,  fun accessories, and also the prices. Ikea is a newlywed/college student's best friend. The only problem I have with Ikea is their hard-to-understand instructions and that the closest one is three hours away.
So the other day my friend Nikki and I traveled the three hour trek to Ikea in Texas. You may I'm crazy for going so far just to get a few things at Ikea, but seriously I saved more money driving that trip and buying what I needed than buying similar items elsewhere or just buying them at Ikea online and paying shipping.
We bought the vittsjo shelving unit and the desk pictured last. I also bought a few fun items like some mint dishes that match my mint KitchenAid, grey and white striped pillow covers, that funny lantern you see me holding above, and some curtains. I hope to make another trip to Ikea to get that awesome tobias chair for our office.
What are your favorite items from Ikea? My favorites are the expedit shelving unit, the wonderful ribba frames, and the strandmon wing chair.
