We got married on May 29th, 2011 in our college town. It was one of the best days of our lives. It turned out pretty amazing, considering we were both full-time students at the time and both had part-time jobs. All of the people helping us with our wedding lived over a thousand miles away and would not be there until a week before the big day, so Brian and I did mostly everything ourselves until that point. I'm so glad we did! It definitely made our day feel like our own. I'm so grateful for having a husband who was quite involved in the planning process. He has a good eye for detail.
In case you were wondering about anything we had at our wedding, I'll include a little list of details:
Wedding sign in the first picture: our friends who flew out to help us right before the wedding made those out of some broken fence they found on the side of the rode. Score!Dress: it is an allure bridal gown I think. I found it first in California and again in Oklahoma where I eventually ordered it. I did have the neckline changed.
Hair: Man was this an issue! My hairstylist who had been doing my hair for 3 years at this point did a trial run with me. Failed miserably. So I had a friend of mine do it. She had never touched my hair before the morning of the wedding. It stayed up the whole day, even through one of the windiest days on record. She did a great job! Thanks Katie!
Hair Accessory: My friend Emily made it for me! I just had to pay for the materials. It was perfect.
Skylar: My maid of honor, seen buttoning up my dress. She is my best friend and my little sis from our sorority days.
Bouquets and Bouts: Done by our friend Emily. She did a fantastic job! My bouquet was better than I could have dreamed.
Bow ties: My hubby loves bow ties. These are from the tie bar. Only $15 a tie!
My lace sash: I got this from LittleWhiteDresser on Etsy. This was one of my favorite things!
Fan programs: My sis-in-law made those for me! All supplies probably from Hobby Lobby or Michaels.
Blue Ball Mason Jars: I spent MONTHS collecting these bad boys. Living in Oklahoma with tons of small towns with fun antique stores, I was able to bargain and get a ton for a great price. I see them online for at least $10 a jar. I managed to get most for about $2. They're very special to me. Some of mine are from the 1800s!
Doilies: Collected from antique stores.
Old Books: Collected from antique stores. I befriended an elderly couple in a small town nearby who owned an antique store. They sold me most of my books for $1 per book. Some they gave me. Most were actually priced at $7 a book. Thankful for that kind couple!
90" by 90" Burlap Table Cloths: These were SO HARD to find. I actually got these from a farming website. They're used to wrap up the roots of trees or something. We had to clean up the edges and air them out, but they worked great!
Pink striped paper straws: I think I got them off of Amazon. Sorry, no help on this one!
Cakes: A lady from my home church makes cakes for people in our small town and made these for me. She was a great deal and they tasted SO GOOD. The main cake was strawberry and vanilla. Groom's cake was chocolate and themed after my husband's favorite NBA team, the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Food: Abbey Road Catering in Norman, OK. It was tasty!
Candy table: candy was from Amazon and Winco. Glass containers from Hobby Lobby and TJ Maxx.
Photographer: Tammy Odell Photography. She is so great to work with! Tammy shot all the photos seen here and has been featured in Brides of Oklahoma. I highly recommend her!
